James J. Roche officiating.
         During the ceremony "O Promise Me" was sung by Mrs. John Lunn.
         Miss Ada C. Rieger, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and J. Eugene Gallagher, brother of the groom, acted as best man.
         The bride wore a suit of brown silk veldyne trimmed with beaver, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of Ophelia roses and valley lillies. The bridesmaid wore a suit of navy duvet de laine with squirrel trimming and carried American Beauty roses. The bride's gift to the bridemaid was a silver mesh bag and the groom's gift to his best man was a gold pin.
         Breakfast was later served at the Iroquois at Buffalo for the bridal party.
         After a short western trip, Dr. and Mrs. Gallagher will reside in Akron, O.
  • The following appeared on 25 January 1922 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: Miss May M. Rieger, formerly of this city, whose marriage yesterday to Dr. Wm. E. Gallagher of Akron, O., was the recipient of an unusual testimonial of appreciation by members of the Niagara Falls City offices Saturday. The following from the Falls paper is of interest to her many friends here.
         Miss May M. Rieger for a number of years past stenographer in the City Clerk's office, has resigned and left the city's employ today. Her marriage to Dr. Wm. E. Gallagher of Akron, O., will take place next Tuesday. Appointment of a successor is expected to be made by City Manager E. J. Fort Monday.          After a short western trip, Dr. and Mrs. Gallagher will reside in Akron, O. Miss Rieger's departure from the City Clerk's office is a matter of regret for her associates in the city offices. Expression of this was coupled with felicitations upon the happy event which is to follow Tuesday in the presentation by her associates in the City offices to Miss Rieger late yesterday afternoon of a chest of silver. It occurred at the City Clerk's office. City Clerk George J. Rickert in making the presentation paid merited praise to the recipient upon the excellent service she has given in that office and her many charming personal qualities.

  • The following appeared on 12 April 1955 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: A former stenographer in the city clerk's office here, Mrs. May Rieger Gallagher died late last night (April 11, 1955) at her home in Akron, Ohio, following a three-month illness.
         Wife of Dr. William E. Gallagher, physician, and a native of Niagara Falls, she moved to Akron at the time of their marriage 33 years ago.
         Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Smith, and a grandson, Mark Smith, of Maple Heights, Ohio; four sisters, the Misses Caroline Rieger, Frances Rieger, Agnes Rieger and Ada C. Rieger, all of this city. Arrangements for the funeral will be announced.
  • The following appeared on 5 June 1965 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Dr. William E. Gallagher, 78, of 564 Greenwood Ave., Akron, Ohio, died Friday (June 4, 1965) in Akron after an illness of one year.
         Dr. Gallagher was a native of Niagara Falls and had practiced medicine in Akron for the last 35 years.
         He attended the State University at Buffalo and University of Maryland Medical Schools. He was a World War I veteran.
         While residing in Niagara Falls, Dr. Gallagher was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 247 and the Niagara Assembly of the Knights of Columbus. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and had held a membership in the organization for more than 50 years.
         He is survived by his widow, Ada Rieger Gallagher of Akron; one daughter, Mrs. Ada Smith, Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Eugene Gallagher, Buffalo, and three grandchildren.
         Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home Inc., after 10 a.m. Sunday.
         Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 8:30 a.m. and in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church at 9:15. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
         Members of the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
