  • John Gibson Truax Gilmour was born circa 1906 in New York.
  • The following appeared on 26 February 1944 in the Schenectady Gazette: John G. T. Gilmour, formerly manager of WRGB, General Electric Co. television station here for seven years, was promoted from first lieutenant to captain Feb. 15, it was announced yesterday.
         A graduate of Nolt Terrace High school and of Union college, he entered the service as first lieutenant Jan. 11, 1943. He is with the army signal corps photo service, Long Island city.
  • He married Dorothy Emily Herman, daughter of Erle Cullen Herman and Olga Marie Luhan, on 19 November 1944 in Hewlett, Nassau County, New York, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
  • The following appeared on 20 November 1944 in the Schenectady Gazette: Miss Dorothy Emily Herman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erle Cullen Herman of Princeton avenue, Hewlett, LI, and Capt. John Gibson Truax Gilmour, son of Mrs. Blanche Truax Gilmour of Union street, were married yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Trinity Episcopal church, Hewlett, with Dr. Reginald Moody officiating.
         The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an ivory satin gown with a long train with seed pearl embroidery. Her fingertip veil fell from a juliet cap and her bouquet was of white orchids.
         Miss Marion Marrigan was maid of honor and wore an ice blue gown. She carried talisman roses and cornflowers.
         Lt. Robert L. Chapin served as best man. Ushers included Maj. Harlan Thompson, Capt. Martin Henry, Capt. Charles Skinner and Capt. Joseph Newman.
         A reception followed at the Lawrence Country club, Lawrence, LI. Following a wedding trip to Sea Island, Ga., the couple will make their home at Jackson Heights.
         The bride is a graduate of Woodmere High school and studied dental hygiene under the supervision of Dr. Josephine E. Luhman of New York.
         Captain Gilmour is a graduate of Union college and prior to entering service was manager of the General Electric television studio here. He is stationed at Long Island with the army signal corps.
  • The following appeared on 6 December 1944 in the Schenectady Gazette: The funeral of Mrs. Blanche Truax Gilmour, of this city, widow of Robert Fuller Gilmour, who died Friday was held yesterday at Glock's funeral parlor. The services were conducted by Rev. Willard E. Rice, pastor of Union Presbyterian church and burial was in the Union college plot at Vale cemetery.
         Mrs. Gilmour was born in Poultney, Vt., June 24, 1879, the daughter of the late Dr. James R. Truax, who for 20 years was professor of English at Union college, and Mrs. Harriet Watson Truax. She was educated in the Schenectady schools and studied at the Art Students league, in New York, under the direction of the well-known art teacher, John Twachman. Mr. Gilmour died in January, 1931.
         She was a member of the First Presbyterian church.
         She is survived by a son, Capt. John G. T. Gilmour, AUS, and by her mother, Mrs. Harriet Watson Truax.

Gilmour of Jackson Heights, LI, are the parents of a daughter, Patricia Gail, born Thursday at the Lying-In hospital, East 70th street, New York city. Mrs. Gilmour is the former Miss Dorothy Herman. Captain Gilmour is a grandson of Mrs. James R. Truax of Union street.

Gilmour of New York city are the parents of a daughter, Pamela Lee, born on Thursday, March 11, in New York. Mr. Gilmour was formerly with the advertising and publicity department of the General Electric Co. Pamela lee is a great grandchild of Mrs. Harriet W. Truax of Phoenix avenue.
