Catharina Dexheimer

  • Catharina Dexheimer was born on 6 October 1830 in Biebelnheim, Rheinhessen.
  • She was known as Kate.
  • Catharina Dexheimer arrived in the Port of New York on 23 December 1855, aboard the ship Confederation from LeHavre, in lower-deck steerage.
  • She married Albert Derlick, son of Joseph Derlick and Josephine Schultz, say 1858.
  • Albert Derlick and Catharina Dexheimer appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1860 in New York City, Borough of Manhattan, New York, and one female domestic servant, living next to Kate's brother Louis Dexheimer.. Other members of the household included Albert Derlick and Emil Derlick.
  • She visited her homeland and returned as a steerage passenger aboard the Steamship Hansa, which departed Bremen 13 August carrying 820 passengers, arriving at the Port New York on on 28 August 1865.
  • It is probable that she returned to Germany for the purpose of encouraging her father Peter and younger brother Philipp to emigrate, which they did in 1869.
  • Albert Derlick and Catharina Dexheimer, appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1870 in Manhattan, New York, at 102 West Houston Street enumerated next to Kate's brother Louis Dexheimer.. Other members of the household included Albert Derlick, Emil Derlick and Otto Derlick.
  • She and Albert Derlick appeared in the census of 1 June 1880 at Manhattan, New York. And one roomer.
  • Catharina Dexheimer died on 12 January 1889 at age 58 in Manhattan, New York, at 102 West Houston Street.
  • Albert Derlick became a widower at her death.
  • She was interred at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.
  • Green-Wood Cemetery Grave 1030 in Lot 17245 was purchased on 3 November 1872 for burial of Peter Dexheimer. Also buried in the grave: Jacob Dexheimer (brother of Peter's father) buried 7 June 1877 and Kate Derlick (Peter's daughter) interred 15 January 1889. Remains of Louis P.
