  • Cäcelie Walter arrived in the Port of New York on 14 August 1869, from Bremen aboard the Main.
  • She married Georg R. Kölle, son of Johann Michael Kölle and Elisabetha Hartlieb, on 19 October 1869 in Niagara County, New York, according to the churchbooks of Zion Lutheran Church. The marriage was witnessed by Konrad Fink and Margaretha Fink.
  • Georg R. Kölle and Cäcelie Walter appeared in the US federal census of 1 June 1880 in Suspension Bridge, Niagara County, New York. Other members of the household included Susan Anna Koelle, George Koelle, Dorothea Koelle and Katharine Scheck.
  • Cäcelie Walter became a widow at the 4 August 1898 death of her husband Georg R. Kölle.
  • The following appeared on 6 August 1898 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: Early yesterday [sic] morning George Koelle, a respected resident of this city, died at his home on Whirlpool Avenue. Death came with surprising suddenness for the deceased had been ill but two days. He was in good health and attended to his work at the Pettebone-Cataract Paper Company mill until Wednesday morning when he took suddenly ill and was forced to take his bed.
         George Koelle was about 50 years of age. He was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, and came to this country with his family about 30 years ago, taking up his home in the village of Suspension Bridge. For 26 years he has been in the employ of the Pettebone-Cataract Paper Company. He was widely known and a large circle of friends will mourn his loss. Besides being a member of Niagara Falls Lodge No. 81, I. O. O. F., he was a member of the German-American Society and Whirlpool Lodge No. 19, A. O. U. W. His widow, three sons and five daughters survive. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. H. Asbeck, pastor of the German Zion Lutheran Church will officiate and the interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The societies of which the deceased was a member will attend the services, which will be under the auspices of the Odd Fellows, and the members of Lodge No. 81 are requested to meet at 1 o'clock at their parlors in the Fink Block.

  • The following appeared on 4 December 1933 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: A delightful surprise party was given last evening for Mrs. Cecilia Koelle, of Whirlpool street, by her children, grandchildren and friends. She was 84 years old and has lived in Niagara Falls for the last 66 years.
         The table was decorated beautifully in yellow. A feature of the delicious luncheon was a huge birthday cake. During the evening the guests played cards. Mrs. Koelle received many handsome gifts.
         The guests included Mr. and Mrs. George Koelle, Mr. and Mrs. Bert McConnell, Mr. and Mrs. William Zinter, Mr. and Mrs. Dempster Hardy, the Misses Ethel and Marion Koelle, Grace Zinter and Geraldine McKinnon; John, Chris and Russell Koelle, Dave Belderman, Leonard and Gerald Zinter, Fred Limbert and Mrs. Frank McKinnon.

  • The following appeared on 29 June 1942 in the Niagara Falls Gazette: [Died] At the home, 1415 Whirlpool St., June 28, 1942, Cecelia Koelle, widow of George Koelle, Sr; mother of Mrs. Frank McKinnon, Mrs. Dempster Hardy, Mrs. William Zinter, Mrs. Bert McConnell; George, John and Christian Koelle, all of this city. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral at the home, 1415 Whirlpool St., Wednesday, July 1, at 4 p.m., Rev. Clarence Braun officiating. Interment in Oakwood cemetery.
  • The following appeared on 2 July 1942 in the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: Mrs. Van Brookins and Mrs. Herman Smith, Newfane, and Mrs. Richard Bewley, Lockport, all members of the Order of Eastern Star, attended the funeral Tuesday of Mrs. Cecelia Koelle, 92, Whirlpool Avenue, Niagara Falls.
         Mrs. Koelle was the mother of Mrs. Demster Hardy, Niagara Falls, past district deputy of the Eastern Star, who is well known in Lockport and Niagara County. Mrs. Koelle died Sunday at her home.
  • Research Note: It has not yet been discovered how Cecelia Walter Koelle was related to the Walter sisters -- Anna Walter Weiler, Dorothea Walter Kilberer, Margaretha Walter Fink and Ursula Walter Stahle -- in Niagara Falls, possibly a niece. Also, it is noteworthy that the Walter sisters' paternal grandmother was Caecelia Kölle possibly kin to Cecelia Walter Koelle's husband.
